As a veteran I have to say really my all time favorite energy food is Porrige, You know Oats and hot mik, bit of honey and you cant go wrong, keeps you going for hours. Great for your heart too, get munching x

You CAN eat fish on the trail. Canned sardines! Healthy, inexpensive, shelf-stable, sustainable, tasty.

They have "delicious" dried squid too. It's like squid jerky. I don't know if squid counts as fish, but it's from the sea. :)



Has anyone made homemade granola bars?


Bananas are good energy booster, I just don't know why after eating a banana I feel hungry instead of feeling full.

I eat steak and eggs only after the ride because it makes me feel heavy. Bananas is my favorite energy food and I always have a couple for breaks during the ride.
