That's a lot of effort to have a pair of Weinmann centerpull speed modulators installed.

Yeah, speed modulators. Because calling them brakes is an insult to actual brakes. ;)


I did something similar to an old 630 ISO frame I wanted to fit shimano road brakes, got the ones with the longest reach, still was not enough, I mean sure I could fit the original normandie laced 630 wheels but when I upgraded to a modern shimano system wheelset I had to lower the brake mounts.
So I had a friend with access to a metal shop build me a pipe insert, I could stick into my fork, mount with a standard screw into the forks original brake holes and then fine tune the "new" brake holes along the pipe.

It's a bit heavier but I would not trust this setup all tha much as the breaking force is pulling the brackets with such torque that all the leverage is along the short width.

Anyway, ride safe, and yea, get some better brakes.
