I like your solution, though I wonder if you solved a problem worth solving. That's a lot of weight and space. I just jam a few tools into a grotty opaque water bottle and keep it in the spare cage. Patch kit, levers, spoke wrench, multitool. No one wants an ugly water bottle. A co2 canister and tire boot would fit in there easily too.

great post, this is one of my favourites out of them all, the build quality looks solid and i actually think the security of the padlock is built well to :)

I'm thinking of a similar build. My plan is to use the PVC pipe and fittings to replicate the approximate size of a water bottle and keep the tool kit in my spare water bottle location. Not as concerned about locking it as I'd just take the tool kit with me once I reach my destination. I guess I could/should just use an old water bottle...but I love excuses to work with PVC. Great post. Thanks for sharing.
