As much as I like to tinker with my bikes, there are times when I seek the care and expertise of a local bike shop professional. I lived in NYC for 8 years and a local bike shop was located on the ground floor of the building I lived in. It was great! I knew the guys, I trusted them, and I got the local dude discount. It was a major bonus that all I needed to do was go downstairs to drop off or pick up my bike.
I moved to Boston last fall and this meant finding a new bike shop to frequent. I have only had to visit a shop once so far and they did a fine job, but I have not given them my official devotion yet. Finding a bike shop you can love and trust can be tough, and as I thought about my desire to find a place I could trust in my new digs, I thought readers out there might have the same desire and perhaps a bike hacks collaborative project might help. So here is the deal . . .
I have set up a web form here. If you have a favorite local bike shop or more, visit the form and fill it in. To provide some motivation, we will do a random drawing and give winners the opportunity to choose from some prizes we have on hand. I have at least three things to give away right now and if other companies are interested in taking part and want to toss some swag into the ring, contact us to let us know.
I will format the information submitted and publish it for the benefit of all. I will probably just leave the form up forever and add to the resource list over time, but in order to have some structure for the prize giveaway, I will note that August 1st, 2012 will be the deadline to fill the form in for prize giveaway consideration.
It would be super cool to have all continents represented. Have at it!
