I've recently found your blog and are enjoying it immensely. As a devotee of using what you have and also being a sewer myself, I can see the advantages of the DIY laptop pannier.

I made my own too.

another new convert to your site. I find myself bookmarking all kinds of stuff on here - this is just awesome.

Bags! geez...is the 'perfect answer' out there? I got a used Chrome Metropolis off ebay - will prob sell it right back. Too hard to carry when not on my bike. (I walk 1/2 mile to my office from nearest bike rack)

My old Army patrol pack is probably the best answer for easy, but it' hot and woodland camo isn't the best for a suit and tie job.

Panniers are nice, but hard to carry off the bike...and I commute and use a public rack weekdays...can't leave 'em on the bike.

I currently have moved to a Banjo Bros Market Pannier bag that I also can use as a shoulder bag. It's doesn't really look like a briefcase...but it's all black and doesn't stick out too bad.

Found that I can zip tie some D rings to the handlebar of my weekend bike - a cruiser that I ride for pure joy many carefree hours) - and can use is as a front handlebar bag (no rear rack on that bike)

If a "messenger pannier" didn't cost a rediculous amount, I'd probably have one!

I think that this duffel bag idea is awesome and my old footlocker in the attic needs to be uncovered and my old duffel bag drug out! lol.
