One day it would be supremely cool if I was able to build my own bike. I don’t mean simply picking a frame and adding components, I mean literally building a frame from scratch. The opportunity to build your own bamboo bike from scratch is offered in Brooklyn through the Bamboo Bike Studio. I am not sure if this bike was built by the owner or not, but I spotted in the other day and thought it to be a strong likelihood –
I have never known, or even spoken to someone, that built their own bike from bamboo. If a reader out there has done so it would be great fodder for a blog post. We have covered some other cargo related hacks incorporating bamboo in the past - an Xtracycle rack and a trailer.
So if you have built your own bamboo bike, or know someone who has, or have used bamboo in some way please feel free to let us know.

Fire away, Matt. I've built about a dozen bamboo bikes over the past year. Check out VeloBamboo on Facebook and www.velobamboo.com

I saw a bike like that at the library last week, but could not find the owner.

I believe that is one of our (bamboo bike studio) bikes. It is an older model we switched bamboo since that but the style and bamboo is ours. Matt were are you located? Check out or website www.bamboobikestudio. com and email us with any questions or comments. We would love to have you build with us
