Long time readers of Bike Hacks know that zip ties are probably my all time favorite accessory. At any given time there are a minium of around 20 on my bike. Other options are of course available and reader Kevin favors Velcro cable ties. Kevin sent along the follow text and pictures.

Much as I approve of the BikeHacks staple of the plastic cable tie, and indeed I always have a few bags around for that quick fix; I must heartily commend to you the wonders of the Hook & Loop cable tie.
I managed to grab a reel of 1"x12" Velcro™ ties that had been discarded at work during a tidy up. And since then they have been finding more and more uses. In true BikeHack fashion I present a few photos illustrating the various cycle applications I have found.
My old Raleigh MTB is modelling a strap as a quick and nasty rear light bracket. This was due to an impromptu commute into Brighton where I was going to abandon the bike for most of the day and bike theft is rife. Hence the need for a hack bike that nobody would steal but needed lights.
Lightweight, flexible and reusable; for those times when you need to be able to remove the tie as well. Keep one or two wrapped round your seat post or bars; you never know when they will come in handy.
