Looks like someone lost the stand off bracket that comes with this model of Wald QR basket (3144 / 3133). http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2644/27318352.jpg
I'm all for recycling, but damn - there's a reason spare parts exist. A quick visit to the Wald websites contact page http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2644/27318352.jpg would have had the part in this person's hands in short order.

ouch! those stainless-steel pipe clamps will destroy the aluminum rack quickly. otherwise, this looks like some pretty great hackery!

Some color coordination would have been nice (LOL). Has anyone done a hack that doesn't look like it was put together with stuff from the dump? Lets see it!
