I recently stumbled upon a bike with multiple hacks that were both practical and style oriented. Here is a shot of the bike from a short distance.
Upon closer inspection I found some unique hackery employed to secure the front basket. Check out this close up picture from the side –
It appears that the handlebars were not the best match for the rack that was chosen so the rider used zip ties, a Gatorade bottle, and a cat food can to create his or her own bracket/spacer. And to add some style, some fabric and fake flowers were added.
The rear of the bike featured both stylish and practical hacks as well. Take a look here –
Buckets have been deployed for carrying things but these buckets were attached in a way I had not seen before – with pipe clamps. Take a closer look –
On the inside the hacker drilled holes through the bucket and latched it to the rack post with zip ties –
And then there is the stylish addition of fabric and what appears to be reflective contact paper on the outside of the buckets to increase visibility at night.
This hacker proves that style and function can live together in harmony.
