I just wish some one could inform me why any cyclist would want a bike lane? This cyclist prefers no bike lane, I would rather mix it up than be limited to a little strip were I'm treated as a second class citizen. Bike lanes also seam to promote a false sense of safety. Amd promotes motorists to think that if there is no bike lane a cyclist does not belong on the street.

just curious.

Around here (Bend, OR), many if not all the bike lane symbols have had the helmeted head replaced with random shapes. It's the same reflective paint as the rest of the road is painted with, so I've always assumed it was the road crews doing it.
