I have seem some strange seat hacks in my day, and as it turns out so has Reader Gavin who spotted an unusual seat hack in Australia. The text and picture below is credited to Gavin and you can see additional photos of the seat hack via his Flick photostream (qladgavin):
I took some pictures of a saddle hack I came across outside the medical school at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia. The uni is the only private one in Australia, named after the very successful businessman (and erstwhile prisoner due to massive fraud) Alan Bond (I was very disappointed to learn it wasn't named after James) and is highly prestigious.
Although these young doctors are all going to get themselves well-paid jobs, it's a slack hack. A torn piece of foam, much longer than the saddle, has been fixed in place with a few strips of packing tape.
Maybe the doctor saw this as a way to fight possible impotency. With the seat that low, either this budding doctor is vertically challenged or is riding like a grasshopper. Have you witnessed some strange seat hacks? Feel free to send them along to us for posting.
