At 0:16 that kid is so unsafe.

Sorry posting twice but...

0:16 unsafe kid

0:31 person with two bikes

1:03 guy hops curb

4 helmets and I think that same person on red scooter.

I find this vid interesting, but lack of helmets is concerning. Is there some unknown truth about more bikes on the road the better you will be without a helmet?

oldfool

Demario Please read about the ineffectiveness of helmets. (google) Do you wear a helmet while riding in a car, walking or showering? You are far more likely to need it there.:{D

Interesting video. I had no idea things got that busy on bikes in Europe.

I have read most people in China don't wear helmets either.

As a Dutchy I can say commuters almost never wear helmets. But at the moment they get on a bike for exercise, most often a race or mountain bike, they dress up in full cycling gear. including helmets. In the last couple of years it is a trend for parents to give little children helmets. But they stop wearing them pretty quickly.

Cool video! My favourite bit is the guy with two bikes.

By the way, here in Finland a friendly competition between companies has just begun to encourage people to cycle to work -- Kilometrikisa, or Kimometre Race.

(Shows total km, km per person, litres of petrol saved, kg of CO2 saved, and is split into a little and big series for teams under and over 25 people.)

Demario,
I can understand why you think that kid would be unsafe, and I definately would hesitate to let my own kid ride in that fashion. However, based on my own experience riding in the Netherlands, I have come to the conclusion that the Dutch are either born on the the rat-traps of their parents' bikes or are genetically gifted with a mutation that allows them to ride on the racks as if they were EZ-Boy recliners.
