I'm Too Sexy - For My Bike Chain

Last week I posted a hack for making your bike chain more comfortable to carry around.  When I stated that I ride with my chain around my waist reader Zach commented and said - "Now that is a picture I'd like to see."  After blushing for a few seconds I dug through my photo archives and found what I was looking for.

This does give me a moment to state that we continue to work on trying to get all of our content into the new blog set up.  Part of being hacks is that no one on our crew is a tech wizard, we are all kind of DIY bloggers.  Thus we continue work on it and appreciate your patience.  We have over two years of killer content and we do plan on getting it back up as soon as we are able.

In the meantime, I am reminded of the Right Said Fred song, I'm Too Sexy.  How much cooler would it have been if these models were rocking heavy duty bike security chains around their waists?

Since biking seems to be gaining momentum maybe bike chains will become a fashion statement, even for those who don't ride.  The hack is using a novelty carabiner, handed out by a bank in my case, to secure the chain around my waist because the lock that came with it is not really conducive to securing the chain as a belt.

It certainly does not look comfortable I know, but after riding with it for a while it's not biggie at all.  Plus, I think it ads to the sexiness factor.  Look for it on a fashion runway near you.

Hey, I am not at all against practical solutions in cycling, but don't ride with the chain around your waist. I have a friend who fell and had hip fracture because of it.

I wear my bike lock chain over my shoulder, like a sling bag. In that case, when the evil enemies approach, I can swing the padlock at them, Ghostrider style.
